You can travel with your pet on the AVE and Larga Distancia (long distance high-speed) / Avant (Mid-distance High-Speed) / Media Distancia (Mid-distance) trains as long as:

• You have a small pet: dogs, cats, ferrets, and birds (not poultry).
• your pet does not weigh more than 10 kg.
• At all times, your pet must travel inside a cage or carrier that measures no more than 60 x 35 x 35cm.
• You can accommodate no more than one pet for every person.

If you have a Premium ticket, your pet will travel for free but if you have a Básico (Basic) or Elige (Pick & Mix) ticket, you can bring your pet for a 10€ more. 

Pets should always travel with their own ticket and must not take a seat. So you may be required to purchase a ticket for your pet; please contact us through the contact form for more information. 

Pets must travel with proper documentation and must adhere to current health and safety regulations.

AVLO (high-speed) trains:

• Pets are not yet permitted.
• Only assistance and guidance dogs are accepted on trains.
