Trains to Bilbao

Getting to Bilbao, located in the Basque Country, is easy by train. The city's Main Train Station, known as Abando, is located in the center, and offers access from and to cities all around Spain. Tickets must be purchased in advance before boarding, and the station has all the necessary services like ticket office, ATMs and bathrooms. 

Once at the station, travelers can find different transportation options to head towards the city center or other destinations. There are several bus lines that connect the station with the main attractions in town, such as the Guggenheim Museum or the Old Town. Taxis can also be found outside the station. 

A recommended way of getting around Bilbao is by walking. The main streets, like Gran Vía, are wide and ideal for sightseeing. There are plenty of shops, monuments and parks to explore. As a side-note, it’s a great city to practice Spanish and Basque, the local language.

Puente de San Antonio: This beautiful bridge connects Bilbao’s Old Quarter and the Arenal district, providing stunning views of the Nervión River. At night, the bridge is illuminated and the views become even more breathtaking. Entrance fee: Free Hours: 24/7. 

Basque Culinary Center: This modern building holds some of the best restaurants in Bilbao, including two Michelin-starred establishments. If you’re a foodie, this is the place for you – you can sample some of the best dishes and buy unique kitchenware. Entrance fee: Free Hours: 10am – 8pm.
